You keep missing the point. It's not a specific chip that's the threat, it's the investment stream. How much money did INTC make on the Pentium Pro? Itanium is just the first implementation of the IA-64 architecture. I have no idea whether INTC will keep the Itanium brand name but I'm quite confident that IA-64 will continue to evolve and dominate an ever-larger segment of the computing world in the years ahead.
