(Nasdaq:MGAM) announced today that for the first quarter of fiscal year 2002,
basic and diluted earnings per share ("EPS") were $0.59 and $0.49, respectively,
before the three-for-two stock split announced on Jan. 25.

Basic and diluted EPS would have been $0.39 and $0.33, adjusting for the stock
split that will be consummated on Feb. 12, 2002. This quarter's split-adjusted
diluted EPS of $0.33 compares to split-adjusted diluted EPS of $0.04 in the
first quarter of FY2001, a sevenfold increase. It also represents a 38%
sequential increase over diluted EPS of $0.24 in the fourth fiscal quarter of
2001. All subsequent EPS amounts have been restated to reflect the three-for-two
split.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization ("EBITDA") for
the quarter ended Dec. 31, 2001, were $10.9 million, representing an increase of
27% over the fourth fiscal quarter immediately preceding.

During the first quarter of 2002, MGAM placed player stations in a few test
markets that resulted in one-time earnings to the Company of approximately $0.04
per diluted share.
