The Real Hizbullah Threat

(IsraelNN.com) The intelligence community seems to agree that the recent attacks from southern Lebanon by Hizbullah are just a taste of what is planned in the future by the terror organization. Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah has grown in popularity in southern Lebanon, since in his words he forced Israel out of the security zone [in May 2000], referring to then Prime Minister Ehud Barak’s retreat from the former security zone. Hizbullah is working to enlist thousands of young members who are being trained for the war against Israel.

Senior government and military officials of late have confirmed that Hizbullah continues stockpiling missiles, including longer-range types with the ability to strike communities in Haifa and the surrounding areas, threatening about 1.5 million citizens.

Army intelligence is aware that terrorists armed with binoculars are tenaciously observing IDF routine along the northern border, paying scrupulous attention to detail such as the time it takes to change shifts, patrol patterns, armaments and more, all being documented to better prepare for a future attack.

While Israel remains aware of the growing threat, there is no outwardly visible sign of any preparations for a preemptive assault or strike against the terror organization.
