Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one that can't make any
sense out of house prices.

Marke Defies Reason

Canadian home sales set a new record last year, and the average house price climbed to an all time high of 171,910, as the residential real estae market defied the economic downturn thanks in large part to low mortgage raets.

"It defies reason. It really does," said Sherry Chris, vice president of network services with Royal LePage. "We've been reporting record years for our offices right across he country.

British Columbia saw the largest increase in unit sales for the year up 28% jump over 2000. It also had the highest average house price at 222,984.
