I think what they are saying is for guys who try to catch the next wave, but still carry on their full time jobs. Too hard to say if they make better or worse decisions. Many daytraders I talk with, miss trades because they ARE sitting in front of their PCs and stop out, get headfaked, and miss the beef of the trade.
I tend to suggest swing trades, and agree with Connellan on this quote: "use time-tested methods, such as earnings, the leadership of the company in its sector and sector valuations.'' That's what I have been doing for years.
For newbies, I also suggest joining a chat room with other seasoned traders and learn from their past and often expensive mistakes. Find your own rythm, and what works for you.
