See Doug you are confusing the actions of leaders with the platform from which they rose. The actions of these folks were all suppressive and dictatorial as opposed to social and open. It fits with all conservative regimes that are corrupt to oppress the people and manipulate the media and build a powerful military and secret police. They are not interested in progress only conserving there power. On the other hand truly democratic and liberal states allow freedom of speech and try help all of it's people and preserve peace and promote prosperity. So you call Democrats what you wish but Jefferson, FDR, Truman, Kennedy and Clinton to name a few Democrats do not deserve your bullship classification of a political ideal that is based on progress and growth for all vs. one that is based on protecting the haves from the have nots
