SuperBEAR Sunday.... Here's some Light.... I stood up in church this morning to make another announcement for this Mardi Gras benefit at the Sheil Catholic Center at Northwestern. Please note that my wife is Catholic, we were married in the Catholic Church and our three boys have been baptized in the Catholic Church. I AM... Nothing more... Week 1 - post Bears loss.... Picture my wife and I up there with me carrying a plastic bag. As she's making her announcement - ie. "since the Chicago Bears aren't going to New Orleans we're going to bring New Orleans to the Bears" - I take out these three stuffed animal bears, hold them in my hand and then excuse my wife with the notation that "we've named these bears, Jim, Anthony and Brian" - for Jim Miller, Anthony Thomas and Brian Urlacher of the Bears who were just licked, kicked and split by the Eagles. I then began the process of bringing the spirit of Mardi Gras and New Orleans back to the bears as I started juggling the three stuffed bears, etc. Week 2 Our entire family is up in front of the church making another announcement with me holding Andrew who is wearing a pointed party hat. I start off by singing "For it's ONE, TWO, THREE strikes your out at the old ball..... - and then my two other sons, 4 year old Thomas and 8 year old Frederick poke their heads out from between my legs and SHOUT - GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that we got their attention, then my wife makes her announcement..... Week 3 I got up in front of the congregation today alone to once again review the fact that the Chicago Bears were NOT in New Orleans, but that the Mardi Gras spirit is alive and well for "today is SuperBEAR Sunday!!" "God have mercy for on this great day we are blessed with in incredible image of three famous Chicago Bears, Walter (Payton), Michael (Singletary) and Daniel (Hampton)....running, shuffling and stumbling into the Hall of Fame." Note: Just yesterday, Dan "Danimal" Hampton - number 99 - was just elected to the Football Hall of Fame, 5 days after a 3rd DWI arrest in the past 2 years. Lord have mercy..... May the light, energy and Love of our ONE Lord God in Heaven shine down and connect with every individual soul on this Super great 2/3 day!! 119293!!
