Yahoo is trying to change that. How long would you have lasted in business if you were giving your jewelry away for free...just to get all those eyeballs to your website?

I would not last a month. The cost of shipping via the carriers increased last January. We raised our shipping rates to our customers.

I can't tell if this has helped or hurt. The charge for shipping give or take a few dollars is totally meaningless for the purchase of a diamond piece or a relatively heavy gold item. On the other hand, for a $18.00 charm, it is a meaningful percentage. We receive frequent emails requesting a lower shipping rate for these inexpensive items. When we refuse, some of these people buy regardless and some do not. We combine shipping so if you bought two, three, five, etc. charms at the same time, the shipping fee remains the same. We now have a lot more multiple purchases on the same order which I assume the customer is thinking "since I am paying shipping anyhow, might was well get a variety." I can't quantify those that do not ask for lower shipping and basically skip our products due to the shipping fee. I am thinking out loud because I assume many people on this thread shop on-line and I wonder if the cost of shipping is much of an issue to most. If it is an issue, is this the type customer you would want for fine jewelry? Jim your input is worthless because you already told me how cheap you are;-)
