This accounting flap was no mystery.

JDS Uniphase Closes Acquisition of IBM Optical Transceiver Business

12/24 13:26 Market News Network
JDS UNIPHASE CORP: IBM CORPORATION - JDS Uniphase Corporation To Acquire IBM Optical Transceiver Business

IBM buys and sells businesses either in part or in whole every quarter. So is it a one time event or part of the business model? If IBM was excluding one time expenses and reporting on a Pro Forma basis then I could see the flap but they report on a GAAP basis so it all ends up going to the bottom line one way or the other. Anyway, the JDSU deal was no secret.

"Full-fledged 64-bit versions of Linux will arrive for IBM servers that previously had to make do with lesser software, Big Blue is expected to announce in the next month." IMHO someone will complain that this wasn't included in the 4Q earnings. zdnet.com.com
