Thomas,
Just got in after the game. I understand your opinion. I feel the same when I read what is posted at the DOE and other ecology sites. The first mistake they make is assuming a hydrogen economy does not pollute the air. The amount of pollution begins with the production of the energy and reactions producing hydrogen. Hydrogen is not a zero pollution option.
My data is from my own studies dating back to 1970’s. What is dumb is to believe the vague governmental statements. There are numerous gov, edu, and com sites misrepresenting the actual facts about hydrogen usage.
Many years ago I estimated the operating cost per mile for hydrogen is approximately $2.50 a mile. This has not changed with Ballard's "new" fuel cells. When they or the government publish different unit cost factors from tests I will consider changing my estimates.
