They call it direct through processing and it is orders of magnitude faster - it all goes through computers - no human processing - same as Datek and the like have done for years. Had my terminology a bit confused...

Pont was a really small brokerage really - the first Aussie discount broker - but anything would make a big noise in those days.

Commonwealth Bank set up an online trading service later and quickly got the biggest market share on the back of their name as one of the big four banks here (former government bank hence the name that was privatised by the Labor government (who are now opposed to privatisation on principle of course :) )
