Growing optimism about a rebound in earnings is being offset by paranoia re accounting irregularities and vague worries about "Who will be the next Enron?" The S&P could do a bit worse than the Nasdaq because the Nasdaq bellweathers with convoluted balance sheets have already been put through the wringer.
