Lets dissect the statements ........
>>>. "Michael Dell says the case for a second-half recovery is simple:">>
Recovery in the industry has also been confirmed by statements from Hwp and Cpq. So no problem there

>>> "You've got 150 million computers that are over three years old>>
Cant argue with that- people I know own 3, 5, 2, etc and with 60mm users in US then 150mm might only cover the US market
With notebook usage increasing, we now have power-saving 13mu chips, 2gh Cpu's vs older 400mh,
newer OS's, an increased work loads. And the cost today is much less than previous costs. All good reasons
to replace rather than just maintain.
>>> 45 million of which are in the large corporate-account sector in the United States of America, where Dell has about 40% market share. <<<
No way here to verify that- Michael should know better than anyone.
<<<If we capture our 40% share of those 45 million, that alone would be 18 million units--which is what people expect us to do for the entire year."<<<
A typical Dell understatement- why would anyone replace their Dells ( the low-cost system) with a
different brand at higher prices. So we keep the 40% min without allowing for any market share gains which should be significant. And how about adding some new users in too ?
At some point in the growth schedule, after reaching a certain market share, Dell will try to improve margins
rather than merely gain share.
