John: Unicom is installing a CDMAONE network right now for 10 million lines. When they rollout the next phase for an additional 25 million lines, the new network will be CDMA 1X. They will upgrade the first 10 million lines too.

I like your comment about Qualcomm dragging the industry forward. They have done an amazing job coordinating CDMA with every conceivable frequency from 450 MHZ up to 38 GHZ. I'm still trying to gather some framework of understanding for Qualcomm's WCDMA chipset portfolio. Last Feb, we had the MSM chipsets & now we have the RF chipsets. I think they have addressed the question of spectrum management with the UHF VCO for all frequency bands.

it would be a heck of a lot easier to drag the industry if government regulators didn't have to be dragged to, esp. the idiots at the FCC. Congress would do better to do an Enron type investigation of the FCC.
