Eric, Not so. One of the leading sources of guns in criminal hands is those stolen in breakins from people who do not have secure storage, unlike you, many people are so stupid they leave them lying around.
Impulse shootings by guns at home are probably the largest cause of gun deaths. Few criminals who break in are killed. More innocents are killed by home owners than criminals.

In Canada we have far fewer impulse killings. True there are knif killings, but that takes direct contact aggression instead of action at a safe distance. In addition the knife in the hands of the average person is less lethal than a gun in the hands of the average person.

hand guns in prrivate hands with exhaustive checks and training, like you, is fine with me.

I do not feel we have any strong disagreements here, just some quibbles about facts, where I see guns as facilitating impulse killings in untrained people.
