Bear Stearns analyst Michael S. Dudas recommends shares of Newmont as his top
stock pick among the precious metals, as it provides "the greatest leverage to rising
gold prices with a low cost, quality profile of operations and a deep management pool."

Shares of Newmont Mining (NEM: news, chart, profile) were last at $23.64, up 83 cents.

"Without much fanfare, gold prices have ticked up to the mid-$280s, while NEM's
shares are near levels witnessed before its consolidation proposal with Normandy and
Franco," Dudas said in a research report issued Monday, noting that he expects
Newmont will see more investor support as the "structural and company merits of the
transaction become more visible."

Additionally, investors and producers have fewer reasons this year to be negative on
gold, he said. "The prospect of producer buybacks into a less liquid market, as well as
favorable macro and technical variables should allow gold to trade higher," he said.

Agreed... continuing to do that. I'm not afraid to sell SA and buy NEM at these levels. Dollar will crash eventually and send it flying.
