my G.E. lies over the ocean

yeah, it is a fast market; I thought you intra-day sto surfin' Dudes liked it that way {grin}

> Got out of KO for a [bone] ... Am currently slightly underwater in VZ, SGP and MCD...

...well, I made a friggin' brilliant paper-trade on AMGN last week (yeah I know, doesn't count :) Lessee, what else... I nailed today's crash and that other nasty down-day last week by reading the VIX and Put:Call tea leaves (did I do anything? uh, no) {blush}

Dude, I am in kapital preservation mode!

MadameGonzo and I spent the day looking at NoCal real estate being dumped on the market by frantic/desperate home owners :-/

> I don't want to talk about my Enron...

...I don't want to talk about my Nortel, either; 'nuff said.

we could talk about accounting, but it's too depressing n'est-ce pas ?

oh, WTH (^_^) let's talk about accounting !

IMHO, (now that we're on the Balance Sheet = B.S. subject) the "other shoe to drop" if'n it does drop will be all these CALL options issued by companies as compensation, incentives, bonuses, etc. -- not being recorded as expenses. You record them babies as debits and we're talkin' CSCO now has a negative Net Worth or something.

They're sayin', "are there other 'Enrons'" or, Balance Sheet = B.S. companies out there ?

...hell... at this point, Berney ~ we gotta ask a different question : "anybody out there actually making money ~ please raise your hands".

working for peanuts...

...wow man, what a P.I.T.A. bread falafel flat-sandwich market this is.

well, I was "lucky" I guess :-/ ...gotta bunch of little scalps this week ~ but I swear Berney I'm going even more bald scalping {grin} workin' my ass off, making dead cat splat trades, trying to hit-and-run; biggest winner ~ my dead cat splat on AOL, else a bunch of fractionals and a few bones.

I felt compelled to get down and intra-day-trade with y'all because my CorpBONDs are decaying... these pizza-tip trades are in effect "preserving kapital" ~ the only 'exit' in this environment is what, commodities but I'm already fully allocated there with my PCL - Timber / LB02H - Lumber, and I'm unwilling to go any heavier into commodities just to hedge USD/kapital decay.

As I close my trading-book for the week, tallying it all up, given decay in BONDs + trading gains ~ I'm barely able to eke out a few bucks. Mebbe any gain looks good in this deflationary environment, I dunno ...but it (long-side trading in the tax-deferred account) sure is a LOT of work, Berney.

_

if (in the immortal words of Peggy Lee) "this is all there is", then I'm gonna switch from TraderBerney - like, big-block long stock positions + in-the-money CCALL exits in the tax-deferred account...

...to in-the-money options trading in the taxable account. Seems to me, that's the only way to make any decent dough when the UpWaves and DownWaves are so damn puny. I mean, IMHO the short duration surf is there, Dude ~ it's just friggin' pathetic in amplitude!

mebbe next week will be better; at least we'll have some options flux undercurrent... feel like we're trying to surf the waves in a damn LAKE (^_^)

...and this LAKE has got a lot of old BALANCE SHEET = B.S. land mines floatin' around! So how're you doin' ?
