I had told Lazarus that the Navy and air force were virtually shut down. He replied with a humourous remark about "Pagasus". (sic) I then responded so as to show that having old beat up makeshift planes, and the kids to "fly" them were dubious criteria for designating them "pilots" or "air force". However, I acknowledged that he could probably use the terms legitimately, if not meaningfully. Your intrusion added nothing to the exchange except your inimitable brand of beetle-browed misinterpretation. "Fighting" as a trained force is different than simply being terrorists and dangerous. Let me suggest that, if you are going to intrude, that you try to get a little brain activity going before dropping your paws on the keyboard???"I believe everyone here is aware of your point of view on the use of atomic weapons in Japan. Some agree with you and some don't. Why persist in repeating yourself. " Firstly, if you had read my posts you would have known that I have never trivialized the danger of these kids flying to commit suicide. I had disagreed with nobody in that regard; so your intrusion was just a very poorly thought out expression of a personal agenda. I respond to what I find in my inbox. That is why I responded to you; because you initiated an ill-considered and insincere interchange with me...we bombed Nagasaki because of the Palestinians, indeed! --oh, brother... _________________________ "There are some technical problems with referring to these kids as pilots. In 19444, many of them had up to 75 or 100 hours of training. In 1945, most of them had less than 10-15 hours (no gas, unfortunately, for them). If you wish to call them "pilots"...then fine. Do you wish to designate them as "air force"?!...fine. Overall, there was no more gas; the planes were crap; and the "pilots" had no training. After the surrender, 11 of these 18 year old "pilots" left in the "air force" to attack Okinawa. Four of these "members of the air force" had engine trouble; seven of these members of the "air force" got lost!! :-) When we think of "air force"...we usually think of service men trained to FIGHT. Most of these kids at the end of the war could not even land a plane! :-) If you wish to consider them "air force"...fine! If you wish to consider them "Pagasus (sic) force"...fine! But what do these kids have to do with Hiroshima or Nagasaki??? "
