If/when Nokia announces that their W-CDMA handsets are going to be late, I am willing to bet that there will be huge outrage all over this board (and gloating on the Q threads).

No doubt about it. But it will signal another delay in royalties.

Interesting comment on human beings. We brag when we're right, even if it hurts. And silent when we're wrong.

In this instance, I think the bragging/hurting is prompted by my fellow Qultists' certainly that the present sad state of telecom simply didn't have to occur if rationality had prevailed. If only the Cabal had listened, we'd all be in high cotton....

But that is an old, boring and now irrelevant debate of historical interest only.

It is a disaster to let the Euros take the lead in any important technology. They turn in to obstructionist screw-ups devoted to holding the rate of progress down to the Euro speed limit -- which is deathly slow and tends to cause problems in any country that interfaces with that technology.
