In the Q1 2001 conference call when he was talking about the need for Hammer.

Palomino to Barton - 0.18-micron copper to 0.13-micron copper with SOI

Willamette to Northwood - 0.18-micron aluminum to 0.13-micron copper.

Intel will get at least as much from copper as AMD gets from SOI. And, while NW increases the L2 cache from 256KB to 512KB, Barton will still have the same 256KB as Palomino.
