"If I were sentencing Ken Lay it wouldn't be funny" and "You can see why they're not letting me close to this case "-- what really scares me is WHO is going to be on the jury if these clowns get tried. If you take out anyone who doesn't read newspapers or listen to business news, what kind of a panel do we have? A stupid one.

When one of the jurors in the OJ case left the jury (for what reason I cannot remember), he was asked how he thought the jury would react to the DNA evidence, in that it was so damning. The juror said that it would not count against OJ, because "all that proves is that we have blood, and everyone has blood."

And I agree with you on Whitewater -- the total amount in question in Whitewater didn't even amount to the value of one Enron retirement account.

Maybe we need to look at our system of incentives and at the laws. With these CEOs and other big wigs getting compensated at hundreds or thousands of times the average worker's annual pay, and most of that dependent upon stock price, the huge dollars that can be made by "tweaking the balance sheet" are too high for the (hopefully small percentage of) unscrupulous executives out there. With their buddies writing the laws, they have a free hand. I say sent them all back to pre-revolution France. If they are going to stick their necks out for a few hundred million more dollars, we will have a fitting punishment.
