I have been pretty unsympathetic with the Enron 401K holders. To me it is basic that one does not concentrate one's retirement funds in the stock of one's employer. If you DO decide to take that risk, then you must be prepared to accept the downside. I also think when they calculate their losses, they should start with their actual contributions after subtracting out the tax benefits they gained, rather than with their peak account balances. We've all been hammered by the decline in the stock market, and nobody is crying for me.

I know it's not "politically correct," but I think many of those folks did far better at Enron than they would have done elsewhere, and it's unbecoming for them to whine about the way things turned out. I'm more sympathetic with investors on the outside who had less opportunity to understand the true situation.

I guess I'd better watch my back in Houston.

JMHO, of course.
