Interesting show on the Discovery Channel a few weeks ago. [I'm not sure whether it has the same programming as you receive in the States....The History Channel here has a lot of British history programming for some reason]. But, the particular show was focusing on magnetics and it's possible affect on human behavior. One particular scientist was conducting experiments on people, using artificially produced, localized magnetic fields on specific parts of the brain. He was able to predictably induce certain emotional responses depending on where the field was located. Usually, what we might consider "negative" emotions. That part of his experimentation was accepted within the scientific community by and large.

Then he moved on to a theoretical question. Do the magnetic fields of the earth affect human behavior? And are there specific areas of the planet where this might occur? What he had found is that there are certain soil types that conduct magnetic fields/energy better than others. So far he's found this type of soil in Kosovo, the Middle East, and Belfast. The scientific community is skeptical, understandably. I'm skeptical as well, but I found it interesting.
