You do not understand how the Japanese had dissolved individuality into the State and how the Emperor was like the Queen Bee. Individual lives had no intrinsic value, but sacrifice to the hive meant eternal honor and happiness. The only thing important was that the Queen Bee lives. Otherwize the hive--the PEOPLE--die.

Even when they surrendered, because there was no longer hope of Russian mediation...they INSISTED that their Queen Bee remain as titular head of the hive so that the hive would survive. And they were given that concession. THere was no longer a reason to deny them their surrender...

As far as their having an IQ below 10? Sometimes, I wonder what planet you are on. Tests have shown for years that Japanese IQ's were above the average...

So again, their intransigence had NOTHING to do with IQ. It had to do with being BEES.

They were probably the first truly evolved bee society in history. Much of it was rooted in the language of ideograms, but there was much more to it than that...
