And how do you explain Congress' spiking of SEC chairman Levitt's attempted tightening of accounting standards during that time? (Among other things, he wanted to ban accounting firms from holding consulting contracts with the same firms they were auditing... a clear conflict of interest, if there ever was one.)

Or the Republican-led over riding of Clinton's veto of legislation which loosened Security Industry standards and practices?

As our current Fed chairman has recently observed, Free Markets only work when they are transparent, and accurate information is available to the players.

The Justice Department's retreat from the Microsoft anti-trust suit is another excellent example of this issue. Free Markets are the opposite of Monopolistic, or Oligopolistic behavior.

Merely leaning to provide special favors for Texas-style 'Big Bidness' (instead of providing honest markets and level playing fields) does not make one a supporter of open and free markets... rather, it makes one an opponent of Free Markets, and thus of Capitalism and it's great promise.
