High-tech industry reaction to the White House's fiscal year 2003 budget request so far has been full of praise, notably for the plan's approximately 15 percent increase to high-tech programs.
The $2.1 trillion budget includes record spending on defense programs, as well as a major effort to combat terrorism both domestically and internationally. A large chunk of the funds requested are expected to strengthen the nation's online security as well.

Association for Competitive Technology President Jonathan Zuck said in a statement that the "administration is demonstrating a commitment to the securing our nation's critical information infrastructure." Zuck added that "funding is only the beginning."
