SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Database software supplier Sybase Inc said on Tuesday its Asia Pacific revenue was expected to grow by an average of 30 percent year-on-year in 2002, more than double its 13 percent growth in 2001.

"Among the major markets in Asia Pacific, it's estimated that China, Japan and Korea will achieve a growth rate of 40 percent," the company said in a statement.

The Asia-Pacific region contributes about 15 percent of Sybase's global revenues, said Mark Wang, Sybase's general manager for Asia Pacific.

In January, the group reported fourth quarter earnings that, excluding merger-related write-offs, topped Wall Street expectations by a wide margin, boosted by growing Asian sales.
