I was curious as to the length of time to sexual maturity of the cod (anything to avoid my real responsibilities) - five years seemed ridiculous given that cats can reproduce before one year - but two to four years seems right - but there is another pressure you left out of your model - the North Sea is getting warmer, and cod like cold water. I assume the rest of the North Atlantic is getting warmer, as well.

AC Flyer,

Very impressive. You have recreated the original work on the Grand Banks collapse that I referred to. I am very pleased that you would take the time to do the work and be honest about the results. At present, the Canadians haven't the will to do what is necessary to revive the cod populations. The fishermen are, of course, in denial that they've ruined themselves. The government is so dunderheaded that its only response is to throw money at the problem without a plan. I'm not encouraged.
