Gold index [XAU] spiking again today. Gold move is not good. Dollar is weakening, U.S. assets less attractive to foreigners. On the other hand maybe we can inflate our way out of recession.

If the market calms down, I'm expecting a bounce in COF at around 42-43---which was a tremendous buying opportunity the last time it got to that level.

People are writing off the credit card people in droves, so it could take guts to buy the stock, but will be tempted. If that monster SLB would ever drop significantly, I'd bet on that one, too. Why won't that beast go down?
