Bill/Wa:

Bob Buchan is a good friend of mine. In fact, he also sits on the board (as chairman) of another favourite of mine, the "sewer rat".

Given the resurgence in gold, I suspect that Bob has plenty to keep him out of mischief in leading Kinross.

Kinross owns a fairly consequential slug of GSL stock. As a result of this fact, it wouldn't be difficult to conjure up unhappiness in one camp or the other if Kinross became active again either as a buyer or a seller of the stock of GSL. I suspect Buchan just wants to avoid any "conflict of interest" possibilities.

I also suspect that Greystar's management is keen to explore possible joint venture activities with other large miners who may have expressed an interest in such things.

Best, Earlie
