Given the nervous state of traders, it looks like Goldman Sach conference comments are blowing stocks apart:

15:01 ET VRTS Veritas Software plunges intraday (38.87 -1.28) -- Update -- Issue has gone into freefall over the past several minutes. Hearing that weakness attributable to comments made during the "breakout session" following company's presentation at the Goldman Sachs Tech conference.


14:34 ET Sector Watch: Gold
Explosive rally in the gold sector continues today with the index (XAU) up as much as 12.2% over the last four days. Speculation of a cut in supply and technical buying have been cited. Pacing the way on the upside today are: MDG +6.7%, GG, 4.8%, AU +4.3%, NEM +4%, ABX +3.8% and HGMCY +3.8%.
