Crusader, I worked for the guy back when he ran SHAPE. I liked him because he wasn't a weasel. He'd tell you to do something, and if it didn't work, he would stand behind the fact that he ordered it done. Those two attributes are usually missing in military commanders. And, he'd give you some of the credit if it worked out. I also liked the fact that the career officers hated him because he went from bird colonel to four star general overnight. It helps to know the President. <g>

I didn't like the fact that he wanted you to ride on the diddly-danged train with him after Bader-Meinhof tried to kill him on the train.

There was a great story about how tough Mr. Gray at United Technologies was. Al Haig survived an assasination attempt with no problem. Then, when Reagan was shot, he took control of the govt. and took a lot of criticism. Water off the back of a duck. 3 weeks as COO of United Tech, working for Gray, and Haig has to have a bypass operation. Now that is a tough CEO. <g>
