MMike, Newmont so huge though, largest in world after acqs
bigger aint better
and so many little guys out there like GG, GOLD, even DROOY

Newmont might be acquiring because they are frustrated in finding new mines
when large guys are in acq mode, means bull run coming

my take on the gold market has main points:
- Japan is imploding, while Asia is feeling ripples, leading investors small & large to turn to non-paper since paper has blown away, creating big instability

- G7 meets this weekend, and very likely is announced or unannounced initiative to devalue the USdollar, which is the desire of US exporters, but which will have unintended consequences to USBonds and USStocks

- the US leaders are backed into an historically unprecedented corner, with recession amidst high USdollar currency, and unwinding the bubbled dollar will likely create more havoc in financial markets

- currency trends last 10-12 years, and if G7 and US leaders attempt to orchestrate a dollar slide, they are possibly in for a rude surprise on its consequences, as rates rise and foreigners sell stocks, but it could turn the US economy around unless the real estate bubble pops (very bitter medicine)

what surprises me is that the gains in gold relative to local currencies is almost as big in Europe as Asia !!!

the world may turn away from the USdollar, but by way of gold before the Euro
