I respect him, but naturally, the more I buy the "Arab mentality" argument, the more I move away from his position. I don't buy the argument in a blanket way and would love to be convinced out of it. For instance, it certainly doesn't apply to King Abdullah, and I'm not sure if it applies to Hosni Mubarak. But I'm sure it applies to Yasser Arafat and Saudi Arabia, whether philosophically or only functionally I don't really care. If all the Arab countries got together and made the proposal he suggests, it certainly would put Israel in a bind -- they would want the peace but would never want to give up half of Jerusalem.

But then, if the Arab countries ever could get together and make such a proposal, they would be a lot more functional than they are now, so the point is moot.
