Maxim sees bookings strengthen; sales up 3% from prior quarter

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--Maxim Integrated Products Inc. today reported a 3% sequential increase in net revenues to $247.1 million in the company's fiscal second quarter, ended Dec. 29, compared to $239.4 million in the prior three-month period. Maxim's revenues were 43.6% lower than $438.3 million in the quarter a year ago.

The company said its net income was $62.6 million in the just-ended quarter vs. $61.3 million in the prior quarter and $122.2 million in the period last year.

Bookings in the fiscal second quarter were $230 million, a 9% increase from $211 million in the prior three-month period. "Turns" orders in the quarter were $125 million, a 23% increase from $102 million in the prior quarter, said Maxim, referring to bookings scheduled for delivery in the same quarter as they are received. Maxim's order cancellations were down 39% from the prior quarter and down 81% from the level a year ago.
