We don't need handset portability between carriers since companies like VZ and PCS offer national coverage. I have never been anyone in the US or Canada where I cannot use my Sprint phone. Same for Verizon.

Yeuk-Hai Mok,

<< we will not see handset sold by US carrier using QCOM's 6300 chipset >>

I see the MSM6300 have application for International Roamers who subscribe Verizon, PCS or others.

The chip is 900/1800 MHz GSM GPRS so it won't roam domestically.

It would enable a Verizon customer, however, to roam on any of Vodafones 25+ GSM networks including the use of data for those that are built out GPRS and could be issued to Vodafone customers roaming in the US.

Sprint PCS offers International travelers a GSM SIM so also a natural for them.

Solves a problem potentially for those of us that use Verizon but have to maintain a separate sub on VoiceStream for international travel.
