Goldman Tech Conf: Semi Cap Equip (Day 2) : -- Before Open -- Similar to the 1st day of presentations, equip company mgmt appear more confident in their businesses, specifically their order books; seems to be consensus that orders will be up q/q for the next 2 qtrs. Mgmt indicated they need to see demand upstream in the chain pick-up before they will call an end to the downturn but they are seeing the early signs of a turn in the cycle. Goldman adds they did not expect the tone of the presentations to be this positive when they upgraded the group on 2/4 as they underestimated the magnitude of customer orders in Jan.

Goldman Tech Conf: Comm IC (Day 2) : -- Before Open -- Group appears to be seeing steady improvements in edge/access/enterprise with little signs of life in optical transport; tone encouraging with all presenters signaling that the worst is behind them. Companies exhibiting best near-term business momentum include MRVL, BRCM, and PMCS; Goldman adds they expect flat or up revs from AGR.A, CNXT, VTSS, and TXCC and that ANAD is seeing signs of life in their broadband and wireless business (although the company is experiencing a seasonally weaker quarter).
