Do you have a long term correlation to prove your point?

The Australian Dollar does move with gold but moves can be delayed by months. From 1996 to 2000 the Aussie and gold both devalued by the same percent against the USD, but moves in the shorter term weren't perfectly correlated.

Maybe I was (in part) wrong about historic art objects of precious metals being tossed into the scrap metals bin. could the 10 lb chalices from church of St. Agnes(1 solid gold & 5 silver)& the two 30 lb silver platens ended in the jewelers crucible? Key quote:
"The Vatican said last night that the allegations were false. “The report is without foundation,” Dr Joaquín Navarro-Valls, the Vatican spokesman, said.

Wildenstein’s allegations were made in a recent French book on art dealers entitled Marchants d’Arts but went unnoticed at first because they had been taken out of the Italian edition under Vatican pressure, according to Diario.

The magazine claimed that the Vatican still regarded the episode as highly sensitive and in seeking to suppress it had succeeded only in bringing it to light."
