The Libs also want to pass new laws before seeing if present law will punish wrongdoers. Frankly, the NYTimes et al could care less if people go to jail, you're correct, they see this as a opportunity to advance their socialist agenda. That's what matters to them. They falsely reported that Gramm was behind measures that allowed Enron to do what it did when it appears that the man they have been lionizing, Arthur Levitt, may have been responsible. I doubt they reported that.
