Sam,
It was said tongue in cheek. As an 18 year old, i could not help singling out texas, particularly dallas for the JFK assasination. And after hearing the LBJ tapes, it just reminded me of what was lost on 11/22/63. LBJ should be tried posthumously for the unnecessary deaths of 50,000+ americans as well as perhaps a million vietnamese. Yes the civil rights legislation passed on his watch was the greatest single political accomplishment i have ever seen, but cannot offset the anger i feel for him.
As for Texas oilmen--many are the scum of the earth. Plus they have stupid nicknames like Kennyboy. I hope Georgie Porgie is different. After all the family really is 100% Connecticut yankee. mike
PS Tell me a bit about Austin. Wife and I are looking more to domestic travelling this year. And if you notice anger in my comments re: texas, i know bigotry is stupid. Most texans are good folks just as you found out most NYawkers are cool too. Just emoting a bit this morn. mike

You have to spend some time in Texas and separate the posturing and reality. They really have an interesting history which affects their world view. Your significant other would love to carry an armadillo purse.

Let me know when. We have several threaders around Austin - I'll guide you to the GOOD barbecue joints. (After a decade here, I've found most of 'em.)

- Mitch

PS - For those who can't make it - call 1-800-AIR-RIBS. They'll FedEx ten pounds of brisket and sauce. (Or ribs ... or sausage ...)
