Yes, they're called contracts... these days each contract represents $250K worth of SP stock... they used to represent $500K worth of SP stock but the value was cut in half because of volatility and rising price levels... a move from 1080.00 to 1081.00 is a $250.00 profit... a 100 point move in the SP's from 1080 to 1180 represents $25K.....

I think an SPX contract is 250*index so around $250,000. There are also mini contracts that are smaller. But you just put down a margin not the full quarter million.
