That's the key : Honesty & Full Disclosure

The Framers wouldn't have liked our "Secret Administration", nor the secret services occupying positions of authority over budgets and policies.

I don't think they ever believed that the people would be disengaged from knowing what their government was doing.
Actually, I don't find that at all obvious. It appears to me their intent was for the government to function almost as an oligarchy. The electoral college (you don't elect the President; they do.) Senators were originally chosen by state legislatures rather than popular vote. I've seen estimates that only about 10% of the populace could vote in the early Republic- -property requirements, gender bars, racial bars.
I think the current government is much more democratic than was originally intended.

I think it's a hell of a lot better than most of the conservatives on this thread think it is.
Say what? Why do you say that? Most are pretty supportive of it. There may be things about it they don't like, but you've just come with a list of things you don't like.

My appreciation for our form of government continues to grow....though I'd like to tweak it some. <LOL>

Who wouldn't. OTOH, I think my tweaks would be significantly different than yours. That's what makes elections.
