OT: Niceguy ... Concerning COVD

I don't know if I mentioned COVD (Covad Communications) in much detail here or not but here was a few earlier posts here about COVD:
Message 16863689 COVD
or Message 16789244 COVD
or Message 16188891 COVD
(I did a StockTalk Search using keywords AMD COVD and found the old ones). Can't help but toot my horn a little.
I liked this one someone else posted on the COVD board (hint-Intel investment info from Goutama):

Concerning Covad, I've been watching their stock since early 2000. They raised a lot of money (IPO and debt) to build out their DSL network as a CLEC under the 1996 Telecommunications Act. Many similar companies have gone under (Northpoint and Rhythm for example). Covad piqued my interest because they had lots of cash. Their cash burn was pretty fast though, and their bondholders in early 2001 began questioning the future of the company. In August, Covad entered Ch. 11 bankruptcy with a pre-negotiated plan to WIPE OUT $1.4 Billion of debt for 19 cents on the dollar cash, and stock representing 15% of the company. Covad also settled some unhappy creditor issues for another 5%. In December the bondholders approved the deal, and Covad completed BK on 12/20/01. The existing stockholders kept 80% in a virtually debt free company.

The stock then proceeded to jump from $.75 to over $3.00 in a little more than a week. I loaded up pretty heavy between $.75 and $.86 per share just a couple weeks before they left BK. I have since added a little more in the mid $2.00 range, as I think there is a good chance they will get the stock price up to $5.00 (for 90 days) for relisting, then who knows where it can go. It has been a great trading stock, yet I just hold, so as to not miss out on a big jump -- very volatile to news, most of which has been positive since last August. The only thing I'm anxious about is the Tauzin-Dingel bill the House is considering which would remove some of the Baby Bell's requirement to allow competitive access to their systems.

Thanks mostly to Covad, I went from being down about 30% at 10/31/01 to close to 100% up for 2001.

It may be that you remember I passed on a little information about TDFX (3dfx Interactive) and its deal with NVDA. Here are a couple posts I mentioned TDFX:
Message 16278249 TDFX
or Message 16131048 TDFX
or Message 16131124 TDFX
or this one brings tears to my eyes: Message 15741199 TDFX
Here's a good summary of TDFX I posted about recently on Raging Bull:

I'm still bullish on AMD, and I am looking to get my AMD holdings back up there with some of my COVD profits, and hopefully when/if the TDFX/NVDA thing works out.

I'm hoping AMD has good updated guidance for their usual mid-quarter analysts meeting. Does anyone know when that might be?
