"If that's true, then more power to those who can exploit this market"

Well, it is just my opinion, but I think I have a basis. There are several things converging here, radio is finally practical, networking is not the pain that it used to be, system on chip has gotten off the ground and all the other software things are there. There are two reasonable OS's out there, Linux and WinCE, with varying degrees of communication ability, although WinCE4.0 improved a lot over WinCE3.0. Several things still need to improve, a good replacement for flash is desperately needed, for example. There are several technologies that look promising, but promising technologies have a bad habit of never making it to market...

Why should I bash? I really like the StrongARM, and XScale looks good. Alchemy's chips aren't bad, but they don't as of yet have a peripheral mix that interests me. I think they went down the wrong alley when they bet on Internet appliances, so both their current devices have a PCI bus.
