while I recall a number of design wins by Intel let me point you to the following quote from bloomberg news:

"OEMs are looking for high-performing, low-power processors for their small-footprint, wireless Windows-powered devices," said Scott Horn, director, Embedded and Appliance Platforms Group at Microsoft Corp. "The acquisition of Alchemy will help AMD meet this demand, enabling them to provide embedded developers with a compelling solution to power these next-generation smart devices."

It seems like the new venture is supported by microsoft which adds a lot of credibility to alchemy deal, imho

"point me to some percentages which shows new strongarm design wins as opposed to non-intel arm, and various mips32/64 design wins."

Assuming that he was talking about PDAs, almost all of the non-Palm design wins recently have been for StrongArm, and there is even a new one for XScale which will be shown soon. The only MIPS in the performance class of StrongArm is Alchemy's chips, and they are aimed at a different market what with their integrated 10/100 ethernet and PCI bus. In a similar performance class is some PowerPC chips from Motorola and IBM, but they currently draw significantly more power, albeit in the range of 5 watts. There are a few Arm designs in the StrongArm class, Motorola is sampling the DragonBall MX, Sharp has a chip in development and if Linkup ever got their 9200 out... And that is about it.

Muzosi, Re: "please quantify "a lot of design wins" and point me to some percentages which shows new strongarm design wins as opposed to non-intel arm, and various mips32/64 design wins. i think you're wrong that strongarm is getting "a lot of design wins"."

For the past six months, there have been countless press releases on products that will use Intel's StrongARM processor. Paul Engle posted the majority of them - maybe you could ask him?
