That's true, but you're not thinking it all the way through beyond the stock market. I was thinking more of our economy. You take away all the net worth tied up in the stock market and cut it by a third, and you almost certainly get a consumer who cuts back spending. And the consumer was the only thing holding this economy together.

You then probably get a pretty severe recession which means more lost jobs, more bankruptcies, more business defaults, etc.

I agree with you on the Market, but you know most Fund Managers and brokers are pretty clueless and will take their clients money down with the Market. Most of us who are a little more awake to the dangers will be able to take advantage or preserve our capital. But most will not.
