We plan to have a great time tomorrow (we meet Friday) in spite of the fact that we're both sick and feel like hammered dog poop. We'll be coughing and coughing, both of us. However, the restaurant is noted for its good desserts and there are a couple of nice shops to peek in, both therapeutic factors important to consider. Also there is a Community Market where you can pick up a perfect homemade-type chicken pot pie for two so when you go home you just have to lie down. You can run into Diane Sawyer in that market, or Meryl Streep, or, it used to be, Bill Murray, until his marriage ended and he moved. He probably got tired of chicken pot pie, it occurs to me.

Our local B&N has a decent bathroom and is cheery and pleasant, too. For years, around the holidays they've let my Amnesty International group set up a table and get cards signed urging the release of "Prisoners of Conscience," and they would even turn their PA system over to me a few times during the evening and let me get people over that way, like a genteel barker. This year is the first year for a long time when that that didn't happen. Not that they didn't permit it, just that our group is in disarray and no one got it organized.
