Is Intel going to repeat their price cuts of middle 2001 in the middle of 2002?

Mike Magee has the scoop: theinquirer.net

Mike at some point learned about tables, but must have forgotten. These guys know how to copy and how to do tables: xbitlabs.com

The second highest speed grade will be $241, while now, the 4th highest speed grade is that much.

your interpretation is very reasonable. As an alternative amd might want to shift over to lower end of the market and keep the unit market share as is. I'd think that athlon xp would be more than adequate against Intel's celeron family :-)). Original low unit shipments of clawhammer would be a reintroduction to mid to high-end desktops that would follow by next year's sledge. Meanwhile higher mobile and mp asps would keep average asps within the reasonable range.
It make more sense for amd to sell more desktop chips at lower price rather than less chips at higher price. Capacity is already there and good portion of cost is fixed.

Back to the BofA conference, I found the link to the slides on jc-news.com (Doh)
veracast.com
And slide 11 veracast.com clearly states what I have been speculating about, which is no .13u in Q1, but there would will be an .18u Palomino based XP 2200+ in Q1, as slide 9 veracast.com indicates. I wonder what the frequency will be. I guess we would need at least 1.8 GHz.

Back to veracast.com which is the mobile roadmap. It seems that AMd expects Barton to be available in Q4, since the wattages drop across the board for the same speed grades of Q2 Tbred. So it looks like AMD will have the top speed grade, and most likely power consumption advantage.

Slide 13 veracast.com has a notable mention of Sledgehammer samples in 1H02 in addition to Clawhammer samples in 1H02.
