I have no idea where you're getting your $10T figure, nor what it's meant to represent. If you're looking at a two year time frame, it's meaningless to calculate the "loss" based on the peak during that period. OTOH, you seem to say the $10T is still available, just in different hands (e.g. sellers of islands) -- so there was no net loss, just a reallocation of resources.

BTW, free markets will sometimes hiccup; nobody forced anybody (that I know of) to put their money into dot-coms.
