When I talk of an historical ratio, I am talking of ratios between both metals since they started being used as money. That was before J.C.

There was a good article on that on Gold-eagle... do a search there you will find it.

Also consider only the annual production:

Gold: 2600 tons
Silver: below 20000 tons

Ratio: near 8.
